Militant hideout busted, huge explosives seized in J&K

Jammu, May 8 (PTI) Security forces today busted a hideout of Pakistan-based Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) outfit and seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition, including 60 kgs of explosives, in Jammu and Kashmir''s Kishtwar district. Acting on intelligence inputs, a joint column of army and police busted a militant hideout around 0600 hours in forest area of Naidgam, about 270-kms from here, a defence spokesman said here. The hideout, allegedly belonging to LeT''s District Commander Habib Gujjar alias Habibullah alias Salman, was located in a natural cave, he said. The seizure included 60 kgs of explosives, seven Chinese grenades, 11 UBGL grenades, two improvised pipe bombs, seven detonators, one 12 bore rifle, one RPG round, 37 gelatin sticks, 15 meters of cordex wire, one radio set battery and three fire extinguishers, the spokesman said. The fire extinguishers could also be converted into Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), he added. Security forces got vital clues about the whereabouts of the LeT commander who has recently been recruiting new cadres from Keshwan and Chatru areas of Kishtwar district to make up the dwindling strength of the terrorists, the spokesman said.
