Naxals kill one hostage, release four in Chhattisgarh

Raipur, May 15 (PTI) The Naxals today killed one of the five kidnapped villagers suspecting him to be a police informer but released other hostages, police said. The Maoists had kidnapped five villagers from Sarandi police station area yesterday. They killed one of the hostages by slitting his throat while the remaining four were released, Sarandi district superintendent of police Ajay Yadav told PTI. The deceased was identified as Kumar Bhuare, he said, adding Naxals killed Kumar on the suspicion that he was cooperating with police against them. Meanwhile, police recovered a 45kg landmine in Koilibeda in Kanker district, the officer said. The mine was planted near Mendki river in Markanar village. The police detected it while patrolling, he said. PTI SNG AT.
