Omar, Vohra hail Kashmiri civil services topper

Srinagar, May 10 (PTI) Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today expressed hope that Kashmiri medico Shah Faesal, who topped the Civil Services Examination, would render meritorious services to the nation. Faesal met the Chief Minister at the civil secretariat, which started functioning here today after the bi-annual ''Darbar move'' of change of administrative headquarters from Jammu. Felicitating him, Omar expressed the hope that he would render meritorious service to the nation and the state during his career, an official spokesman told PTI. Faesal, the first Kashmiri to top the Civil Services Examination, had called on Governor N N Vohra at Raj Bhavan here last evening, the spokesman said. The Governor had also invited Faesal''s mother Mubeena, a school teacher. Father of the 26-year-old medico, hailing from a remote village in Kupwara district, was killed by militants in 2001. But, he overcame the trauma to top the prestigious UPSC exam in his maiden attempt.
