Chandigarh, May 16 (PTI) Punjab government has put a grievance redressal mechanism in place by appointing an Ombudsman to deal with complaints regarding implementation of National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA). Giving the information here today, Rural Development and Panchayat Minister Ranjit Singh Brahmpura said the move was aimed at ensuring transparency in the implementation of the Centre-sponsored scheme so that it could become an effective tool for poverty alleviation. The Minister said that the Ombudsman to have a tenure of two years would work as an independent agency facilitate early disposal of complaints received from NREGA workers in accordance with law.
