Orissa hold Bengal 1-1 in National Jr Football

Kolkata, June 18 (PTI) Last year''s runners up Orissa scored an injury time goal to hold hosts Bengal 1-1 in their quarterfinal league match of the National Junior Football Championship for Dr BC Roy Trophy at the Mohun Bagan grounds here today. In another quarterfinal match, Chandigarh rode on a hat-trick by Gangandeep Singh to blank Manipur 3-0 at the Yuba Bharati Krirangan. Captain Prabir Das gave Bengal the lead in the 27th minute but the hosts could not make use of the opportunities. Just when Bengal looked to earn full points, Orissa shattered their hopes with an equaliser in the injury time. Somnath Naik struck in the fourth minute of the stoppage time as both teams had to settle for one point each. In the other match of the day, Gagandeep Singh scored once in the first-half and added two more after the changeover to blank Manipur.
