Karachi, Jun 18 (PTI) The Pakistan cricket team''s playing kits in the Asia Cup in Sri Lanka has drawn criticism from former players as they feel the sponsor''s name is displayed too prominently on them. The kits have been prepared by "Boom Boom" a sports goods manufacturing company based in London but run by Pakistanis. The company had signed a two-year deal with the Pakistan Cricket Board for the supply of kits and playing gear to the national team after a contract between the PCB and Slazenger ended. The new playing kit is of parrot green color with the company''s name "Boom Boom" prominent on caps and even on the shirts. Former Test leg-spinner Abdul Qadir said the playing kit of any team was of great importance and the board should have selected the suppliers after giving it good thought. "Only a few fortunate ones get a chance to wear the green Pakistan colour and the PCB should ensure it is of the highest quality," Qadir, who was also a former chief selector, said. Former captain Moin Khan said on the caps, the sponsor''s logo was more prominent then the crest of Pakistan. "I would like to see the crest displayed more prominently as it is a source of great pride for everyone," he said. Former Test pacer Sarfaraz Nawaz described the kits as low quality and not fitting for a national team. "It looks like in the selection of the playing kits and suppliers also there has been a one man show in the board," he said. "The new kits are unimpressive and not upto international standards. In such modern times it is hard to understand who cleared these sub-standard playing apparel," he said. PTO COR PM.
