Patna, May 9 (ANI): Urban development in Patna is affecting the cultivation of the famous Malda mango of Digha. Farmers are suffering huge mango cultivation losses due to the cutting of trees. Some have ever sold their lands as the land itself is yielding them more money than the mango crop."We are not getting regional mangoes any more in the area. The situation in Digha is that the value of land has increased so much that the value of mango has decreased for us," said Rakesh Kumar, a mango farmer."The few Malda mangoes grown in the region are now sent to other cities, as there is a demand for mangoes in that part of the country," he added.Local customers said they were missing not getting Malda mangoes."We are not getting Bihar's Malda mango. We are buying mangoes coming from outside the city. The city's famous mango is not there as trees are being cut and people are building houses all over the place. We have to buy other mangoes," said Brijmohan Aggarwal, a customer.Malda mango is a fleshy, flavoured and an affordable local variety of mango. (ANI)
