Jammu, June 17 (PTI) Refuting allegations of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that crime rate has increased in Jammu region, ruling National Conference (NC) today asked PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti to abstain from playing "divisive politics". Taking strong exception to Mufti''s recent statement that crime rate has increased in Jammu region since the coalition government of NC and Congress took over, senior NC leader and MLC Ajay Sadhotra termed the charge as "baseless, concocted and false with a design to misinform the people of the region". The fact of the matter is that crime rate in the state, especially in Jammu region, has declined by about three times as compared to previous years since Omar Abdullah took over as the Chief Minister of the state, Sadhotra told reporters here. Cases of militancy has also come down by 30 per cent in the state, he added.
