Pepper, turmeric down on subdued demand

New Delhi, May 10 (PTI) Black pepper and turmeric prices fell by Rs 100 per quintal each in the national capital today owing to sluggish demand against increased arrivals. Weak trends at futures market and lower advices from the producing belts also put pressure on the prices. Black pepper and turmeric prices fell by Rs 100 each to conclude at Rs 16,700-16,800 and Rs 15,900-16,400 per quintal, respectively. Marketmen said, reduced offtake by local parties and weak exports demand mainly pulled down black pepper and turmeric prices on the wholesale kirana market here. Following are today''s quotations in Rs (per quintal): Ajwain 10,000-15,000, black pepper common 16,700-16,800, betelnut (kg) 85-105, cardamom brown -Jhundiwali (kg) 525-530 and cardamom brown -Kanchicut (kg) 555-590. Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 1000-1,085, cardamom (colour robin) 1,110-1,130, cardamom bold 1,130-1,150, cardamom extra (bold) 1,170-1,200 and cloves (kg) 265-315. (MORE) PTI DP SUN RS.
