PHDCCI resents hike in power tariff

News posted by www.newsinfoline.com

Shimla, June 17 (PTI) The state committee of PHDCCI has strongly resented the commercial power tariff hike by 13-17 per cent and said that it would prove a hurdle in attracting fresh investments and retaining existing industrial units. Reacting to power tariff hike, the chairman of Himachal Pradesh committee of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) Dhian Chand said, "Increase in tariff by 40-50 paise per unit for industrial units is a big setback for the industry. A power surplus state like HP should have avoided it." Observing that the industry is the main consumers of power and proves a major source of revenue for electricity board, he said it was not necessary for the power board to raise the tariff. He said the investors have strongly resented the increase in power tariff, retrospectively from April 1, 2010 and there is no justification in making recoveries from the consumers, who had already paid the bills.
