Quality education gets priority in Punjab

The Punjab government has decided to chalk out a comprehensive plan to identify the brilliant students at school level for providing them free additional coaching and guidance for the selection of higher educational stream of their interest and aptitude.In a meeting of the Higher Education Department on Monday, chief minister Parkash Singh Badal asked the education department to identify at least one ideal school in each block that would be improved by all means to impart quality education to the selected brilliant students in that particular block. He said that the state government would announce special incentives for the teachers to be appointed in these schools, along with Adarsh schools in the state.Under the program of Skill Development, Punjab InfoTech has initiated a training programme for the college students to match the exact requirement of the IT sector. Badal asked the state Public Works Department to expedite the construction work of 13 new government colleges in the state and to prepare two separate reports of existing 58 rural and urban government colleges for their repair and renovation.
