Quippo-WTTIL inks multi-million-$ agreement with IBM

Quippo-WTTIL, a 51:49 joint venture between the tower arm of Tata Teleservices and Srei group's Quippo, on Thursday said it has outsourced its managed services to technology giant IBM under a multi-million dollar contract. Though the exact size of the deal was not disclosed, under the arrangement IBM will provide comprehensive technical support to overhaul Quippo-WTTIL's IT infrastructure system which will include managing the hardware, mailing and infrastructure management software applications.Quippo-WTTIL which is the largest independent tower company manages over 38,000 telecom towers and plans to roll out nearly 25,000-30,000 additional towers in the next two years.Quippo-WTTIL chief operating officer Arun Kapur said, "With customer centric focus and innovation, it was crucial for us to blend the IT requirements with our business objectives, especially in today's competitive environment. With this agreement, our aim is not just to have an IT partner but an enabler of growth that can help us enhance our operational efficiencies which will, in turn benefit our operator partners.
