New Delhi, June 17 (PTI) Anil Ambani-led Reliance Power today said it has commissioned the second 300-MW unit of its Rosa thermal power project in Uttar Pradesh. "The second 300-MW unit of the power project started generating power on June 15," the company said in a statement. The first 300-MW unit of the project commenced generation of power in December, 2009, it said. The Rosa thermal power plant is the first project to be commissioned by Reliance Power. Reliance Power now has over 1,000 MW under operations and has three ultra mega-power projects in its kitty. An Empowered Group of Ministers (EGOM), in its meeting earlier this year, decided that any company which has three UMPPs in hand cannot bid for the fourth project unless it completes one of the projects. This clause would disallow Reliance Power to bid for the forthcoming UMPPs in Chhattisgarh (Sarguja) and Orissa (Bedabahal). Reliance Power bagged three of the four allotted UMPPs -- Sasan (Madhya Pradesh), Krishnapatnam (Andhra Pradesh) and Tilaiya (Jharkhand).
