Single yet super-moms!

For a single mother, motherhood is like the two sides of a coin - while you have the joys and the bliss of being around your child, the difficulties and the stress associated with it, cannot be ruled out as well.Whether a woman is a single mom by choice or because of getting divorced or by God's will, it is very hard to play the role of both the parents.This Mother's Day keeping in mind the versatile roles played by a single mother AbsolutData Research& Analytics shares the survey of experience of women who are a successful single mothers.According to the survey about 30% of the respondents face 'Multitasking between various responsibilities' and 30% face providing 'Financial Support' as main challenge in raising their child. As Ms Ritu says, "Financial problem always turn out to be the most serious one.Mother of two children, Ritu divorced her husband after spending 10 years of turbulent marriage. Although my husband sends money it is not sufficient to meet the needs." Ritu who is a designer by profession works day and night at her design studio in New Delhi to meet the needs for her children.Another most common difficulties faced by single mothers is the problem of managing time between work and home. 'Me being away for long hours does have an effect on my son,' admits Ruchika, mother of 12 year old Rahul. Ruchika is one of those rare women who never married but opted to bring up a child by herself. An executive of an NGO Ruchika's work demands a lot of traveling and leaves little time for her son. "I have now decided to cut down on the traveling, as I have to play the role of both the parents at the same time. Being a mother I have to look after all his emotional needs and playing a role of father is equally challenging but I enjoy playing both the roles."Concluding the survey Sudeshna, EVP HR, AbsolutData Research & Analytics says, "Not only Multitasking and Financial support turned out as a prominent problem but also challenges faced by single mothers while planning to get re-married. About 30% of women who wants to get re- married have to think twice of their children's security and around 40% have to think of child acceptance before they re-tie a knot."
