New Delhi, June 17 -- "My son was not at fault. Neither was he drunk at the time of the incident. It was the taxi driver's fault," said Congress leader Kanwar Singh Tanwar, father of Dinesh Singh Tanwar (26) who is accused of killing a woman by his speeding car on June 3 in south Delhi. Kanwar said Dinesh did not flee from the crime scene. "He had fractured his arm. He went to a hospital to get himself treated. He was later admitted at Safdarjung Hospital and the tests proved negative for alcohol," said Kanwar. The 27-year-old victim Meenakshi alias Meenu is survived by three children - Preeti (5), Shivam (2) and Saina (1). She was raising the children on her own after being deserted by her husband Diwari and then her live-in partner Manish, a resident of Neemri Colony in northwest Delhi. Diwari is the father of Preeti, while the other two children were fathered by Manish. The Congress leader said he was ready to support the children financially. "I will take care of the three children till they grow up. I will even get the two girls married off when they grow up. I will finance their education and will pay for their expenses," he said. Meenakshi's children are currently living at the Children's Welfare Home in Sarita Vihar. The police said, initially, none of the two fathers had come forward for the children's custody.Police said they have completed their investigations and would submit a chargesheet at the appropriate time.
