Three held for duping passengers by posing as cops

New Delhi, May 15 (PTI) Three persons were arrested for allegedly duping passengers of cash and valuables by posing as cops, police said today. Pardeep (28), Jogender (20) and Santosh (22) were apprehended on Tuesday for allegedly duping people who they gave lifts in their car by posing as officials of Delhi Police''s Crime Branch. "They used to target passengers at bus stops early in the morning," a senior police official said. The arrests came following a complaint filed by Ravi Ranjan Kumar on March 27. He claimed that he and his friend had taken a lift from the accused persons. After some distance, they told Kumar that they were from Crime Branch and wanted to check their ATM cards and belongings in connection with an ATM robbery, police said. The arrests came following a secret information about the movement of the gang and a trap was laid to catch them on May 11.
