Torres left out of Spain side for opener

Spain striker Fernando Torres was left out of the starting line-up their opening Group H match against Switzerland at the World Cup on Wednesday.The Liverpool forward was declared fit after recovering from knee surgery but coach Vicente del Bosque has opted to start the match with David Villa playing as a lone forward and Torres on the bench.Andres Iniesta was included in the starting team after recovering from a thigh strain and he will take his place on the the left side of a five-man midfield.Switzerland coach Ottmar Hitzfeld, who was without his injured captain and leading scorer Alex Frei, selected Eren Derdiyok to replace him in attack alongside Blaise Nkufo.(Editing by Patrick Johnston and Nigel Hunt)
