Vinay`s fiver restricts Patiala to 252

An inspired bowling spell by Vinay Chaudhary (5 for 79) guided visitors Amritsar to restrict Patiala to a modest first innings total of 252 runs in the semi-final encounter of the Punjab State Inter-District U-19 Tournament for Dhruv Pandove Trophy being played at Dhruv Pandove Stadium.Hosts Patiala won the toss and elected to bat first. Patiala had a bad start as they lost opener Vinay Gorabha, who gave a simple catch to Ashwani off the bowling of Kamal Passi at an individual score of five runs. Patiala soon lost the wicket of Anmolpreet Singh, who was run out by Vinay at an individual score of six runs and Patiala scorecard reading 41 for 2 in 11.3 overs. Vicky Sharma then joined Vikramadit Singh and the duo stitched together a partnership of 72 runs for the third wicket. Vikramadit Singh departed after playing a knock of 72 runs off 102 deliveries and smashed 12 boundaries. Patiala then lost some quick wickets and soon the scorecard read 155 runs for the loss of six wickets. Mehjot Sodhi and Karan Kalia were then associated in a 55-run stand for the seventh wicket and helped the team go past the 200-run mark. Vinay removed Mehjot Sodhi when he trapped him lbw at an individual score of 42 runs. Kaila made 35 runs from 135 balls. Patiala innings ended at 252 runs in 98.4 overs. For Amritsar, Vinay Chaudhary was the star of the day as he claimed five wickets for 79 runs while Navneet claimed one wicket for 17 runs. The other main scorer for the visitors was Ankit Pursharthy who played a knock of 65 runs while Birkanwar Singh made 50 runs.
