West Bengal villagers take shelter in camps during anti-Maoist operation

West Midnapore (West Bengal), May 16 (ANI): Hundreds of villagers in West Bengal's West Midnapore District took shelter in camps to protect themselves during the anti-Maoist operation.Hundreds of families have been staying in camps set up by Maoist-backed People's Committee against Police Atrocities (PCPA), to avoid problems during the ongoing operations against the Maoists by security forces."There is constant exchange of fire. We were forced to run with our children to escape the bullets," said Sushan Kalindi, a villager said.Two such camps have been set up in the district.West Midnapore is one of the worst Maoists affected districts in the country."There has been constant firing. We were always in panic, so we have come here," added Behula, another villager. (ANI)
