When Films Met Fashion

Haute glamour and Bollywood's constellation of stars converged on the Emerald Isles during the recent Videocon IIFA Weekend. Day One of the three-day festival began with a welcome conference featuring Deputy Minister of Economic Development for Sri Lanka Lakshman Yapa Abeywardana, Sri Lanka's cricket captain Kumar Sangakara, and Bollywood stars Vivek Oberoi, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Dia Mirza and Sophie Choudhry. Sanjay Dutt, Anupam Kher, Bipasha Basu and Kunal Kapoor presented the film Lamhaa, followed by Bobby Deol, Mugdha Godse and Sophia Handa kicking off promotions for the thriller Help!.At sunset, the IIFA Fashion Extravaganza brought out the stars in their designer wear. Hosted by Dia Mirza and Vivek Oberoi, the event was sponsored by Avirate. Actors Jacqueline Fernandez, Mirza and Sangakara joined models on the ramp in designs created by Sri Lankans Yolanda and Kanchana. Anil Kapoor brought in panache and humour during a chat show with fellow actors Boman Irani, Ritesh Deshmukh and Lara Dutta. Musical duo Salim and Suleiman were up next, rocking the show with performances by Anushka Manchanda and Satya Hinduja.The highlight of the evening was a showing of fashion designer Manish Malhotra's latest collection, which had Salman Khan as a showstopper.
