Latest Group F news ahead of the World Cup in South Africa which starts on June 11.ITALYStriker Giampaolo Pazzini boosted his hopes of being in Italy's 23-man World Cup squad named on Tuesday after netting on the final day of the season to give Sampdoria a 1-0 win over Napoli and secure a Champions League qualifying berth.Alberto Gilardino, Vincenzo Iaquinta and Serie A top scorer Antonio Di Natale look assured of going to South Africa but the two other striker slots are up for grabs.Villarreal forward Giuseppe Rossi also scored in a 3-3 draw at Real Zaragoza but AC Milan striker Marco Borriello and Napoli's Fabio Quagliarella, also in the provisional 30-man squad, drew a blank and will be nervously awaiting the announcement.NEW ZEALANDAll Whites coach Ricki Herbert will assemble his full squad for the World Cup on Wednesday for their final training camp in New Zealand before they head to Australia for a friendly against their trans-Tasman rivals on May 24.Herbert named his final squad last Monday, adding 10 overseas-based players to 13 of the Australasian-based players who had been involved in a 10-day camp in Auckland earlier in the month.The All Whites play Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground before heading to Austria for a high altitude training camp where they will meet Serbia in Klagenfurt on May 29 and Slovenia in Maribor on June 4.PARAGUAYAldo Bobadilla, Paraguay's second-choice goalkeeper, will miss his club Independiente Medellin's remaining matches in the Colombian Apertura championship.Bobadilla, who played in Paraguay's three matches at the 2006 finals after number one Justo Villar was injured in their group opener against England, has left to join coach Gerardo Martino's squad at a training camp in France.Medellin have qualified for the Apertura semi-finals.SLOVAKIAAttacking midfielder Marek Hamsik, one of Slovakia's key players in qualifying, missed Napoli's 1-0 defeat at Sampdoria on the final day of Italy's Serie A with a pulled muscle.But the injury is unlikely to present a long-term problem and Hamsik, Napoli's top scorer with 12 league goals this season, is expected to recover in time for Slovakia's build-up for the World Cup finals.Fourth-choice goalkeeper Dusan Pernis, who was named in the provisional World Cup squad, boosted his chances of squeezing into the final roster after keeping a clean sheet in Dundee United's 3-0 win over Ross County in the Scottish Cup final.(Editing by Miles Evans; To query or comment on this story emailsportsfeedback@thomsonreuters.com)
