Amar to take on Mulayam in Yadav land

Lucknow, June 17 -- Former Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh has decided to target Mulayam Singh Yadav in his home turf. Amar Singh, who has now become president of All-India Lok Manch, will hold a rally in Nidhauli Kalan in Etah district in first week of July. The Nidhauli Kalan assembly seat had fallen vacant last week following the death of SP MLA AK Singh Yadav. Amar Singh, who was in Lucknow on Wednesday, has directed the Manch workers to participate in large number in Nidhauli Kalan rally. "Nidhauli Kalan chalna hai" (we will go Nidhauli Kalan), Singh told his supporters here. The assembly constituent is part of Kalyan Singh's Etah Lok Sabha seat. Even though Yadav helped Kalyan in winning the seat, the two have now parted ways. Thus the possibility of Kalyan Singh indirectly supporting Manch rally against Yadav could not be ruled out. Amar Singh told journalists here that he had ideological differences with Kalyan Singh "but has no problem in touching his feet as elder". He also made it clear that "Yadav had taken him to Kalyan Singh before 2009 general election". Nidhauli Kalan rally would thus be first test of Amar's Manch to demonstrate its strength in Yadav land. "Amar Singh has no base in the region", said SP spokesman Rajendra Chaudhury. However Raj Babbar of Congress has already made dent into Yadav's base by winning by-election from Firozabad Lok Sabha seat in 2009. He had defeated Yadav's daughter-in-law Dimple Yadav. Amar Singh had supported Peace Party of Dr Ayub Ansari in Dumariaganj assembly by-election pushing the SP to fourth position. "SP has now become number four party", Amar Singh commented. Even though Amar Singh has floated the "non-political Manch to carry on the battle for Separate Poorvanchal state, the target is SP, which has considerable base in east UP. Poorvanchal battle is well timed. Manch has planned to give impetus to the movement by 2010-end by launching Sandesh Yatra and Poorvanchal Vikas Yatra to mobilize the people in the run up to next assembly election.
