Apex court give Karnataka time on Mysore corridor

New Delhi, May 4 (IANS) The Supreme Court Tuesday granted Karnataka eight weeks time to deal with various bottlenecks in the implementation of the Bangalore Mysore Infrastructure Corridor project.A bench of Justice V.S. Sirpurkar, Justice Mukundakam Sharma and Justice R.M. Lodha adjourned the hearing after Karnataka government's counsel told the court that the meeting of a high level committee (HLC) headed by Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa could not take place due to restrictions linked to election code.Advocate General of Karnataka Ashok Haranahalli said the HLC's meetings could not take place on account of the declaration of the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palika elections.He said that earlier meetings of the HLC could not take place because of the budget session of the state legislature. He said in HLC's meeting Nov 19, 2009 several outstanding issues were discussed and resolved.The HLC headed by the chief minister has seven senior officers of the state as its members. The HLC was constituted Nov 10, 2009 on the direction of the apex court.
