Arrest principal for filing false affidavits: HC

Cuttack (Orissa), May 17 (PTI) The Orissa High Court today ordered initiation of criminal proceedings against the principal of an English medium school of Bhubaneswar for filing false affidavits in the court. The single-judge bench of Justice M M Das, after taking cognisance that the principal of DAV public school of Chandrasekharpur had suppressed facts by filing false affidavits, directed the High Court registry to initiate criminal proceedings against him within two weeks. HC registry has been asked to lodge criminal case against the school head under section 194 of the IPC and section 340 of CrPC in SDJM court of Cuttack Sadar by the end of this month, said advocate Aptakam Mishra, who is conducting a batch of cases of arbitrary fee hike in English medium schools of the state on behalf of Parents'' Associations. Principal K C Satapathy, who was earlier pulled up on several occasions for misleading the court had filed around eight affidavits in the court since the fee hike issue came up for hearing last year. The case has been adjourned to June 23.
