Bryant named Finals MVP after Lakers edge Celtics

Kobe Bryant was named the NBA Finals MVP for the second year in a row after his Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Boston Celtics in a decisive Game Seven on Thursday.Bryant, who averaged close to 30 points per game during the 2010 playoffs, had a game-high 23 points on 6-of-24 shooting as the Lakers dumped the Celtics 83-79 to take the series 4-3.The 31-year-old Bryant, named MVP last year when the Lakers defeated the Orlando Magic to claim the title, now has five NBA championships in a glittering 14-year career.The 12-time NBA All Star guard became the franchise's all-time leading scorer during the regular season and has frequently carried the Lakers to victory almost on his own.(Writing by by Frank Pingue in Toronto; Editing by John O'Brien; To comment on this story email sportsfeedback@thomsonreuters.com)
