New Delhi, May 4 (PTI) Taking cue from Mumbai, Lt Governor Tejinder Khanna today directed the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and other concerned departments to build in-situ accommodation for those living in slums in the city. At a high-level meeting, also attended by Delhi Finance Minister A K Walia and top DDA officials, Khanna said the model adopted by authorities in Mumbai to provide housing to slum dwellers should be introduced in the national capital. He also appointed a committee comprising officials of the DDA and MCD''s slum department and representatives of Delhi Government to conduct a survey of all Jhuggi Jhopri cluster and suggest ways to provide in-situ accommodation to them. "L-G has directed us to provide in-situ accommodation to slum dwellers," said an official who attended the meeting. Of late, Delhi Government and DDA had vacated slum areas promising the people alternative accommodation.
