Bangalore, May 16 (PTI) Amid controversy over the Governor issuing notices to Karnataka ministers and summoning them for a hearing, Union Law Minister Veerappa Moily today said a Governor has powers to seek clarifications as per the Constitution. "The Governor (H L Bhardwaj) has only asked some questions that could have been simply clarified. Such powers have been vested with him as per the Constitution", he said during a function. He was referring to Karnataka minister G Janaradhana Reddy, who questioned Bhardwaj''s constitutional authority in summoning him and two other ministers on a petition, seeking their disqualification from the House. He pointed out that Bhardwaj, a former law minister, was a legal luminary and well acquainted with laws and constitutional provisions. Alluding to Reddy''s statements, he said the remarks against the Governor could be construed as anti-constitutional.
