New Delhi, June 17 (PTI) A Delhi government employee was arrested for allegedly impersonating as a police constable, police said today. 28-year old Dalbir Singh, posted as head clerk in Sarvodya Kanya Vidhalya, Bakhtawarpur, was caught yesterday at Hiranki Picket in Alipur after he tried to avoid police checking of his car by showing a Delhi Police identity card in his name to the authorities, they said. "Initially he tried to escape by speeding his car. After he was chased by the policemen, he showed a Delhi Police ID card in his name to the authorities and claimed he was posted in Chanakya Puri," a senior police officer said. "Later, on further verification, it was found that Singh worked in Delhi Government as DASS (Grade-II) Officer and was presently posted as head clerk in Sarvodya Kanya Vidhalya, Bakhtawarpur," he added. Police said that Singh allegedly used to show the I-Card to traffic police staff to evade paying fine when caught violating traffic rules. "He also used to show his police I-card to the parking attendants in the parking lots to save the parking fees. He also used the I-card to get entry at the VIP functions," a police officer said. According to officials, Singh had joined Delhi Police in 2006, but resigned two years later later after getting a job in Delhi government. Singh''s elder brother is employed at Parliament House, police said.
