Gurgaon`s new, unlikely landmarks: Metro pillars

News posted by www.newsinfoline.com

Gurgaon, June 18 -- In yet another example of how the Metro is leaving a definitive imprint in the areas where it operates, Metro pillars of the elevated Gurgaon metro rail track are now being used as alternate milestones. Those who face difficulty in locating addresses in Gurgaon for want of proper signages, this is a godsend, especially for localities on and around M.G. Road. Here, people have started mentioning the serial numbers of Metro pillars as specific landmarks for ease of navigation. Also, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has allowed the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) to use its Metro pillars for putting up traffic signages. A recent invitation by the MCG to invite people to plant trees at the Biodiversity Park near DLF Phase III also mentioned Metro Pillar No. 12 as a major landmark. Some other locations which have Metro pillars as milestones are Hotel Bristol Chowk (pillar number 69), First India Place (pillar number 97), Beverley Park-I (no. 113), Gurgaon Central Mall and Time Tower (no. 118), Hotel Westin (no. 134), RITES building (no. 142), Remfry House and Fire station (no. 177), Max Hospital (no. 190) and Unitech Business Park (no. 199).
