The Himachal Pradesh High Court on Saturday ordered a CBI inquiry into the suicide by a girl here in which a senior IPS officer has been booked. Ritu Kalmotia (22), a lecturer in a private college committed suicide in herhouse here on March 28 this year after her marriage with the son of IG (law and order) Pardeep Sarpal was turned down by the officer. The demand for a CBI inquiry had been raised by her family immediately after her death.Sarpal, who was later had proceeded on leave, was posted as Inspector General of Police (Law and Order) when Kalmotia's family had levelled allegations of tampering with vital evidence as he had visited her house and broken the door when Ritu had hanged herself from the ceiling fan.A division Bench of the High Court passed the orders for transferring the case to the CBI on two separate petitions filed by Ritu's father S S Kalmotia and her maternal uncle Gopal Krishan.
