Indian Missions closely following Nitin Garg murder case

New Delhi, Jun 17 (PTI) India today said its Mission in Canberra and the Consulate General in Melbourne are closely following developments after the arrest of a teenage boy in connection with the murder of Indian student Nitin Garg, who was stabbed to death in January this year. The Victorian State Government authorities have informed the Consulate General of India, Melbourne, that a 15-year-old boy was arrested today, by the Victorian Police, in relation to the death of the late Nitin Garg, an External Affairs Ministry release said. It said that he (the suspect) was "expected to be charged with one count of murder and would be produced in the Children''s Court today". The murder of Garg on January 2, 2010, came in the midst of a series of attacks on Indians in Australia that shocked Indians back home. The ministry said "Our Mission in Canberra and the Consulate General in Melbourne are closely following the developments." PTI PYK.
