Kolkata/West Midnapore, June 17 (ANI): A senior police official on Wednesday said the encounter in which eight Maoists were killed and huge amount of ammunitions seized, was a part of a larger operation. Police officials said they received information that about two dozen Maoists were gathering in the region for a meeting. State police and paramilitary forces then launched a joint operation to nab the rebels. Security officials are terming the operation a big success, as the Maoists have significant influence in the region.
