Lucknow, June 16 (PTI) Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati today directed officials to provide financial approval to construction works only after ensuring that the land required for the purpose as well as executing authority for undertaking the works has been selected. The chief minister, who held a review meeting with senior officials, here asked them to ensure that financial approvals were granted only after ensuring availability of land besides the selection of the executing authority, an official release issued here said. It has been seen that following delay in selecting executing authority as well as land, government funds are not immediately utilised and people fail to avail its timely benefit from such projects, the release said. The chief minister also directed for formulating a policy for selection of architects by the executing authorities and government departments involved in construction works. Issuing directives, Mayawati said all ponds to be dug under the "Adarsh Talab yojna" be completed before July 15 and stressed that FIRs be filed against those encroaching upon the lands allotted through pattas. Mayawati also asked the chief secretary to undertake survey of the "Mahamaya Garib arthik madad yojna" through video conferencing.
