Nigerian students visit Bhai Gurdas Institute

An orientation programme for Nigerian students was held at the Bhai Gurdas Institute of Engineering and Technology campus on Thursday. Under the programme, 45 Nigerian students, who are on a six-week visit to the campus under the exchange programme, participated. The programme was inaugurated by chief coordinator of the Nigerian delegation, Daniel Blessing, and coordinator Nikru Adesogan, who lighted a lamp.In her key note address, Adesogan said such programmes helped broaden the mental horizon of students and give them exposure to technical and engineering education of international standard.In his presidential address, Guninderjit Singh Jawandha, Dean Colleges, Bhai Gurdas Group of Institutes, said in this era of globalisation, sharing and dissemination of knowledge across the boundaries was becoming an increasingly common phenomenon. He hoped that the visiting students would go back to their home country with a lot of new knowledge and better perception of Indian culture.Director of the institute, Tanuja Srivastva, said the visit was the result of quality education being provided there. She said the institute has also signed MoUs with a few foreign institutes, which include exchange and cooperation between respective staff members and students, arrangement of seminars, workshops and other academic affairs of mutual interest.Blessing, coordinator of the Nigerian delegation, thanked the BGIET authorities for providing summer training to students. She said going by their interaction with the faculty members and infrastructure, they were hopeful that the institute would provide the best possible training and skill in the field of ICT.
