New Delhi, May 17 (PTI) Two masked robbers barged into an ATM centre of the Punjab National Bank (PNB) in north-east Delhi early this morning and attempted to decamp with the cash after taking the security guard hostage at gunpoint. The duo tried to cut open the ATM machine in Shahdara for about 30 minutes before fleeing from the scene. Police received a call in this regard at around 3:30 am. Police recorded the statement of the guard Bikesh Kumar (20) who was held captive by the robbers. "Kumar was taken hostage at gunpoint. Then they tied his hand with a rope and started cutting the ATM but they failed," a senior police official said. The incident came to light when a passer-by noticed Kumar tied with a rope. The robbers also broke the CCTV before fleeing from the spot. As they were masked they have not been identified, the official said.
