Six killed in ambulance-bus collision

Jhajjar, June 18 (PTI) Six persons, including four of a family, were killed and four others were seriously injured when an ambulance in which they were travelling collided head-on with a private school bus here. The government ambulance was carrying Kiran, her ailing newborn and eight others from Matanhel village to a hospital in Rohtak, when the accident occurred last night on the Jahajgarh-Beri road, police said today. The ambulance turned turtle after the collision and three persons died on the spot while seven others received serious injuries, police said. The wounded were admitted to PGIMS, Rohtak, where three others succumbed to injuries while the condition of two was stated to be critical, according to doctors. The bus driver fled from the spot leaving behind the vehicle just after the accident. Besides Kiran and her new born child, the deceased have been identified as Kiran''s mother-in-law, Shanti, and her nephew, Rahul, residents of Ladayan village here, the ambulance driver, Rakesh Kumar and Surender Singh, residents of Matanhel village. The injured had been admitted to PGIMS, Rohtak, where PTI COR VJ.
