WR collects fine of Rs 1.43 cr in May from Vadodara division

Vadodara, Jun 18 (PTI) Western Railways Vadodara Division registered 34,000 cases of irregular travel and realised Rs 1.43 crores in May, the highest ever fine collected during a single month in the past 150 years, a top WR official said. "The ticket checking staff of the WR''s Vadodara division penalised 34,000 commuters travelling without valid tickets, ticketless travellers, and those crossing the tracks and collected Rs 1.43 crore in the month of May," Senior Divisional Commercial Superintendent of Vadodara division Dinesh Chanchodia said. The ticket checking staff conducted a drive on June 15 and booked as many as 1,012 commuters for travelling without valid tickets and without tickets and recovered Rs 3.98 lakhs from them as fine, he said.
