Ajmer (Raj), Jun 18 (PTI) Thousands of devotees from across the country and abroad today offered Friday prayers at the dargah of Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti whose 798th Urs is being held amid tight security. Devotees, including from Pakistan and Bangladesh, have been taking part in the five-day Urs celebrations of the 12th century saint that began on June 15. Superintendent of Police Hari Prasad Sharma said that special security arrangements were made for the occasion. Entry points of streets to dargah and various markets were closed. Movement of vehicles was also stopped in the area since morning to avoid any inconvenience to the devotees, Additional Collector of Ajmer Jagdeesh Purohit said. Also known as Gharib Nawaz or ''benefactor of the poor'', Chishti is perhaps the most famous Sufi saint of the Chishti Order. The Urs commemorates the death anniversary of Chishti. PTI CORR.
